“ One of the best places in KL/Selangor area for sang har mee (fresh giant water prawns). The noodles were Cantonese style, with the typical eggy smooth sauce - but taste wise is extremely elevated with the prawn's roe and entirety being cooked with the noodles. Was a little speedy, rm78 per prawn for a large prawn but worth it. Everything else we ordered was delicious too! ”
“ Restoran Pan Heong is an old-time legacy restaurant, near the Batu Caves. This place is quite popular for their sang har hor fun, which is freshwater prawn hor fun (hor fun meaning rice noodles). So obviously, if you pay this place a visit, you should order this dish. The quality and freshness of the prawns is what matters most for this dish to work. I asked where the prawns come from, and was told they're sourced from Indonesia and India because they're more succulent in the head and springy. For the noodles, the traditional creamy egg-based gravy is the way to go. You'll be able to taste the roe coming from the prawn's head as it seeps into the gravy and noodles to add more savoriness and a bit of sweetness to it. It's absolutely delicious, and probably super high in cholesterol (because prawn head). Still worth the extra calories and heart attack risk. Also, the Mee Goreng is popular here. And the porridge. This place is quite popular. Since it's near the Batu Caves, you might see some non-locals. I'm pretty sure Pan Heong would have been featured on some travel programs, so I doubt it's a secret now. The noodles here are super good though, so try not to overindulge on these if you plan on walking the Batu Caves. ”
“ If you're a shrimp lover, go for it! "Wat tan hoe" noodle with fresh shrimp but slightly pricey. Minimum of 2 person portions with 2 shrimps of RM74. Packed with people from morning till noon ”
“ Pan Heong is a chinese restaurant that serve their porridge and some noodles and chinese dish, but what's making this restaurant packed with people all day long was, their porridge, also their fried noodle. I have ate their porridge since primary school since is just open outside my school, my parents always bring me there for lunch after school since I am standard three which is mean I am having morning classes, their boss is a man who serve customer with all effort and heart, but by the time pass by their food is getting bad and the service is getting worst, they don't serve you well with a good manners but more like impatient with you and want you to eat quick and pay, also, leave. I don't think a restaurant should treat us like this even though they are famous for more than a decade, they should maitain or be better so there will be more new customer coming in. ”
“ My family and I have been here a few times for late breakfast/early lunch. If you are planning to come on a public holiday or weekend, be prepared to wait for a table - but don't worry, you won't have to hover over someone else's table or worry about others doing that to you because they have a proper waiting list system here. But regardless of whether you have to wait or not, this place is highly recommended! What we usually order is the fish porridge with century egg, wan tan hor, 'nam yu' chicken, mee goreng mamak, and mee hoon with stewed pork - I would definitely recommend trying any or all of these because they are really delicious! The fish porridge is smooth and they are generous with their fish too. The wan tan hor is super yummy - must try! For a Chinese restaurant, their mee goreng mamak is exceptional! The 'nam yu' chicken is packed with flavors and so tasty! As for the prices, they are quite alright - definitely worth the money. Certainly, you will leave full and satisfied! ”
